Yes, we hired a math major as a programmer and he was super useful on the team since we could throw him massive control theory equations and ask him to fix them (we design ECU firmware).


Physics is a pretty solid foundation for any stem related profession.

Haha, many of the finest software engineers were trained as physicists, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, etc.

Anecdotally, it's pretty much the most common major among top software engineers after CS and Applied Math.
