> Robotaxi has to be cheaper than a normal taxi to kill taxis.
I'm not sure that's true. Self serve checkouts are killing the checkout. Washing machines killed the washing board. Something can be the same price or dearer if it's more convenient.
That comparison has the problem that it is not comparable. A robo taxi is not much different from human taxi. I can not see much of an improvement for the rider. Whereas washing machines are an incredible time saver and self checkouts can be faster (especially if you use these little hand scanners).
What would you define as better? I rent various EVs regularly, and I'm still yet to find something that beats it on performance, range and price. That's all before comfort and features, which again most seem to lack. There are a couple pretty close to Tesla, but nothing that clearly beats it that I've driven.
In the US market, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has better build quality, identical range in real world conditions, a ton of comfort, and no threat that their CEO will go off his meds and take away your driving assist features unless you pay a ~~ransom~~ subscription fee.
Tesla's greatest strength is/was that they did almost everything inhouse. The reason all the other manufacturers struggle to do basic things like dog mode is because they are almost all relying on the supply chain for everything. No infotainment/HVAC supplier has a dog mode so it doesn't exist.
The obvious downside to that is that when Tesla cuts back on R&D, it becomes painfully obvious to the car owners. I'm not expecting anything like dog mode to show up ever again.
These are one of those things that are hard to get statistics of due to the nature of the subject, but going to any website that features AI generated content like CivitAI will show you a lot more naked AI generated women than men, and that the images of women are greatly better in quality than the men. None of the people actually exist, of course, but some things stem from this:
1. There are probably AI portals that are OK with uploading nonconsensual sexual images of people. I am not about to go looking for those, but the ratio of women to men on those sites is likely similar.
2. The fact that the quality of women is better than the quality of men speaks to vastly more training being done on women
3. Because there's so much training on women it's just easier to use AI for nefarious purposes on women than men (have to find custom trained LORAs to get male anatomy right, for example).
I did try to look for statistics out of curiosity, but most just cite a number without evidence.
In addition to AI-specific data, the existing volume and consumption patterns for non-AI pornography can be extrapolated to AI, I think, with high confidence.
> Another thing you may have noticed is that the taskmgr or even regedit does not look the same as you would see on Windows 11. This is because as I mentioned, Cloud Host is built on OneCore and it is headless (or console based), hence, it doesn’t contain any of the GUI pieces of Windows. We have a special taskmgr and regedit version that doesn’t link with all the modern GUI functionality available in Windows 11, which gives them the “old style” look.
I haven't used Windows in a long time, so it looked normal to me. I just went and watched a video on Windows 11, goodness me.
Funny, the tone sounded UK/Australian to me. Just be aware, beyond a surface level awareness there are very few people who know what a specific ideology in your country sounds like, or care enough to learn.
It's a very grandoise (or alarmist, depending on your perspective), but this isn't super new. The US has been "unstable" with rulers breaking their own laws domestically and internationally for many decades.
Yep, I have a mate who left tech to "go dig holes" (civil construction). He's now fit and happy, earns about half of what he did and is done with work by 1-2pm most days.
There are a billions of options out there and you only get one life. Go try them, or even try not working. You don't have yo have a job if you don't want to. It's your life.
I've argued this with people for years. The construct of what you can afford/need to pay is largely artificial. Most people can move to a cheaper area, sell their posessions, work a menial job and live frugally to save for 5 years and buy land away from things and live out their life in peace. Or a million other ways. The social rules of how you live are not real.
Yes. This is how I've been shutting down windows PCs for decades, as I don't want to use a mouse and start menu positioning varies:
Windows + R
(type) shutdown /s /t 0
Enter
The /t is a time flag and you can abort scheduled shutdowns with the /a flag. Handy if you know your Windows machine will be finished with a task in 10 or so minutes but you need to leave - just set a timer for 1800 seconds and Kazaa will be done with its download ;).
> Handy if you know your Windows machine will be finished with a task in 10 or so minutes but you need to leave
That might maybe work most times, but when your network speed suddenly changes or the downloads is aborted it fails. Far better is just telling your computer that you want it to shutdown after the download finished:
wget ... && shutdown now
Should also work on MS Windows, IE used to be able to be told to exit once the download finishes, not sure how the situation looks like now.
Agreed, but I've found Windows to be relatively finicky with the shutdown command, with some OS versions being fine with that and some not. Additionally, on Windows often the action needed is a GUI program with no simple way to post-hook or provide an output a CLI can easily ready.
As such I usually set my timer 3x what it needs to be (e.g 1800 for a 10 minute) and it's always had a high chance of working.
I would imagine it's a relevant political football in most first world countries. I avoid American news, but the bits I see make me think it's probably still focused on culture war garbage.
